Communio is a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to the long-term care of those with intellectual disabilities in an environment conducive to the physical, psychological and spiritual growth of all individuals involved. We are currently located in Omaha, NE, where we are implementing many of our philosophies and hope to soon transfer these activities onto a larger scale in a true community living environment in Anthon, IA. Our primary inspirations originate from Jean Vanier’s L’Arche communities, but we also tackle larger environmental and social issues which are critical to the long-term success of any community.
Communio was founded in the Roman Catholic tradition, but many of its members and supporters come from a variety of faith traditions. Communio welcomes all people of good will who are committed to the service of those with intellectual disabilities.
